André Silva winner of The International Master Fitter Competition 2012

The gold medal together with the world cup, a bottle of champagne and the title International Master Fitter 2012 went to André Silva, Portugal. The silver medal hung around the neck of Emiel Baans, The Netherlands. The bronze medal was for Grzegorz Wroński, Poland.

Other countries taking part in the competition came from Brazil, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway and United Kingdom. The participants performed in replacing a door window, replacing a back light, repairing a windshield and replacing a windshield. For each of them a Renault Laguna was available.

The Rules of the Competition were based on criteria for quality and health and safety only. Simona Viviani, the chairperson of the team of 9 international judges underlined in a statement during the award ceremony that at the very end the differences in the performances of the competitors were limited.

André Silva, a technician of Grupo ExpressGlass, started his career in the automotive glass industry 10 years ago. Recently he won the Portuguese national competition.

The International Master Fitter Competition was held in Düsseldorf, Germany at glasstec, the international trade fair for glass production, processing and products. The world cup was presented by its managing director Birgit Horn.
